About me

Hi,
My name is Shannelle Laniyan, I'm 19 and a student at the university for the creative arts. Originally, my plan was to study English Literature at Durham but with time I came to realise my real interest. I eventually decided that visual media was something I greatly appreciated and wanted to be a part of. Having said that, I found  BA (hons) Television Production with UCA and was drawn in immediately. I've always been fascinated by visual media and it never ceases to amaze me how limitless the creative space is. I've been told many times that I have a good eye for things and that I was also good with words and I guess that motivated me to nurture my talent by learning more about what I love.
So far, it's been an amazing experience here and has served as a platform to build my career off.

When I'm not watching movies, my favourite shows or anime back to back, I enjoy reading novels, and motivational books or watching movies and then analysing them. I have a serious case of wanderlust! I recently went to Paris and the atmosphere was amazing! It's a beautiful city and would be the perfect location for a French romcom. Luckily my French isn't so bad so I wasn't stuck. I love music, I listen to different playlists wherever I go. At the moment my favourite song is happy by Pharrell Williams and I'm sure most of you understand why.

I've spoken a fair deal about things I enjoy doing/like now it's time for the opposite. I'm rather tolerant so I can be lenient with certain things but I ABSOLUTELY HATE gum, pidgins, and speaking in front of people! Ironically, I'm not a very confident person which most find strange as they couldn't sense that at first. I guess I've turned out this way because at some point I stopped trying to be the star in everything and eventually, I was seated at the back of the audience. But, I'm working on it I know the media industry requires a lot of confidence and I'll have to overcome some personal reservations.
